- Set up in the 1970s to promote the best work from new writers. Highly successful plays from the likes of John Waterhouse, Jack Booth, Don Carroll and John Reason are popular at festivals and as staples of amateur productions throughout the year.
- National Academy of Writingsearch for term
- Major new initiative to establish a national academy in the UK. More than 100 established writer patrons support its aims and will be visiting the Academy to help deliver the programme. - National Association for Literature Developmentsearch for term
The professional body for all those involved in developing writers, readers and literature audiences in the UK. A professional association supporting creative writing of all genres and in all educational settings throughout the UK. They support writers in education, in universities and in the community, and have useful resources, training and job opportunities plus the Artscape directory. www.nawe.co.uk

- UK-based organisation which has campaigned since 1993 to improve literacy standards across all age groups. New concept in theatre publishing - a publishing company that is owned and managed by writers. The Playwrights’ Co-operative is a not-for-profit organisation whose aims are to cut out the middle-men and profit-makers from the world of theatre publishing and give individual playwrights the opportunity to take greater control and responsibility in the marketing of their work with all the benefits that full publication brings.
