Recent posts on Facebook by friends and ex publishing colleagues have prompted me to think and write about Amazon and what it's doing to those whose lives and businesses are bound up in books. There has been a flurry of anti-Amazon articles in the press, trade press and online. I've read some of them, and I'm troubled that there seems to be such a one-sided reaction against what is surely the retail and cultural phenomenon of our time.
