LoveReading Very Short Story Award 2019
LoveReading.co.uk has launched a competition for stories of between 600-1000 words in length, written in English, in any genre. The award is open to entries from overseas as well as the UK, from both unpublished and published authors. However, only unpublished stories are eligible for entry. The judges are looking for 'exciting, stimulating, original and beautifully written stories that leave a powerful impression on the reader.'
The team of five judges will read the stories blind when choosing their 10 shortlisted stories and this will be complemented by a People's Choice vote, in which LoveReading members will vote for their favourite story. The winning story will be read by a professional actor on The LoveReading Podcast, and published on the LoveReading website.
The judges are: Elena Lappin (LR Podcast host, editor & author), Liz Robinson (LoveReading Reviews Editor), Maxim Jakubowski (author, translator, editor), Alison Flood (Guardian's book reporter & literary journalist), and Preti Taneja (novelist).
The deadline for submissions is 31 October. The shortlist of 10 stories will be announced in January 2019, and the winning story in February 2019.
