The White Review Short Story Prize 2018 is an annual short story competition for emerging writers. This will be the sixth year of the prize. The closing date for entries to the prize is 1 March 2018.

The prize was established in 2013 with a one-off grant from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation and it awards £2,500 to the best piece of short fiction by a writer resident in Britain and Ireland who has yet to secure a publishing deal. Previous winners, who include Claire Louise Bennett, Sophie Mackintosh and Nicole Flattery, have gone on to secure book deals with Hamish Hamilton, Fitzcarraldo Editions, Fourth Estate and The Stinging Fly.

This year, for the first time, the prize will be supported by United AgentsClick for United Agents Agents References listing, a partnership which will run for a minimum of three years.

The judges will be looking for "short stories that explore and expand the possibilities of the form, and there are no restrictions on theme or subject matter." The winning story will be published in a quarterly print issue of The White Review, and shortlisted stories will be published on The White Review website. The judging panel consists of: Chloe Aridjis, Sam Byers, Zeljka Marošević, Anne Meadows, and Sophie Scard.
