The Author of Tomorrow is designed to find the adventure writers of the future. Part of the Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, it is an annual competition open to young people, aged 21 and under, who have completed a short piece of adventure writing in English.   Read more

Dylan Thomas Prize for Young Writers 2008

Entry: 
Entry Fee: £100. Writers must be under 30 years of age on 3rd April 2007. The following genres are all eligible for entry: novels, collections of short stories, poetry, screenplays, radio and theatre plays. To be eligible a literary work must have been commercially published, for the first time in the English language between 27 April 2006 and 30 April 2008. For TV writing and theatrical films, the script or screenplay must have been commissioned between 27 April 2006 and 30 April 2008.
Prize: 
The winner of the Dylan Thomas Prize will be awarded £60,000 at a ceremony to be held in November 2008

A £60,000 prize designed not only to richly reward the best young writer in the world, but also to serve as a focus for and incentive to all young writers throughout the English-speaking world. The 2008 Prize is open to commercially published young writers of any nationality, from anywhere in the world, writing in English.  Read more

BBC National Short Story Award 2015

British nationals and residents aged 18 years or over, who have a prior record of publication in creative writing in the UK

£15,000 to the winner, £3,000 to the runner-up, and £500 each to three further shortlisted authors
