Inside MS Outlook and Outlook Express you can instruct the computer to extract email addresses from messages and stick them in your address book for you. Eudora has a similar facility.

If this does not happen:
open Tools and
under Options
click the Send tag.
Look at the various settings and check the box telling the system to add the address when you reply.

If you are moving from another computer, you can import your address book. You can do this even if the address book was created using different software. You should always test any files before you get rid of the old address book (and do not be surprised if you lose some parts of the information).

To match this, there is an export facility. You can select any of the files and save them on another disk as a backup or to take to another computer. You will normally find the import and export under the File option.

Groups

You can set up groups inside the address book. Select new, then group and give it a name. Then select the names by double-clicking to add them, or type in a new email address.

Next time you want to send some news to the family, you can select the group title just as if it was the email address. You can go back and edit the group to  add or remove names.
