They were the first unit to go to France in September 1939. They were lucky to escape in June 1940 as the final entry in the log records their possible location as the HQ withdrew. Using their initiative, the company found its way home.

As the army stood poised to drive the Italians out of North Africa, the company was sent into the desert to find a location for some defences. They picked a place called El Alamein.

Above - Late in 1941, the company was at Kabrit for 'Commando Training'. Working with what was to become the SAS, they prepared for missions behind the Axis lines.

Right - When the war ended the the company members were POWs. As they waited for liberation they ran the camp and did their best for the Serbian and Soviet inmates.
